INTERVIEW WITH MANOLETE, BAILAOR
"The fact that young guys still see me
as modern makes me feel I have the right to do new stuff"

Manolete travels around the globe revealing the secrets he's learned from
his years of experience. An experience that can be traced back to somewhere between
the caves of Sacromonte in Granada and the flamenco high society of Madrid, where
he rubbed shoulders with the generation of male dancers forged in the furnaces
of Pilar López. Teacher of bailaores. And he himself Bailaor
beyond compare. The brother of guitarist Juan Maya Marot offers a very simple
explanation for his interest in teaching: "I try to transmit the truth of
what I understand to be flamenco dance". On stage, his performance has come
to be known for the farruca style, his trademark, and for his restlessness
and desire to reinvent, nourished by the timelessness of his dancing.
