Adela Campallo and La Nitra, double flamenco session in
2010 Veranos del Corral
The series of flamenco dancing, guitar
and singing that takes place, as every summer, in the historic
Granada’s alhóndiga came to equator with a
program shared by two young artists of the genre. In front
of them, the hot night, a local-global mixed crowd and a
scene of singular beauty. The singing opened the show. La
Nitra, singer with experience in Joaquín Cortés
company, chose a varied repertoire to return to his city.
With a style close to singers as Chonchi Heredia and Montse
Cortés, played alegrías, soleá, the
'Elegy to Ramón Sijé' by Morente and bulerías.
Though the neat and solid guitar master Paco
Cortés accomplished more 'feeling' with the audience.
Quick fade to black. Adela
Campallo quickly took over the scene in order
to show excerpts of dances from shows as 'Horizon', recently
released
in the Seville’s Jueves Flamencos. From this show
comes the introductory ‘galera’, a dance solo
adaptation of one of the themes of 'Persecución'
by El Lebrijano, which Juan José Amador and Javier
Rivera here put more voice than inspiration. Just one cajón
solo was enough as an intermediate for the dancer to come
back to the scene, dancing alegrías and dressed with
a bata de cola in different shades of blue. Fueled by the
cool guitars of Juan Campallo and David Vargas, drew in
the air, made the earth sound... and told the cola to become
water. And suddenly, seguiriyas. The dancer, outlined in
black and white dots, finally offered a sample of her more
temperamental dance. And she was who connected with the
audience, who gave and received the emotion.
