Farruco lineage
There are many cantaor dynasties, but very few bailaor ones.
Unique is that of Madrid's Los Pelaos, creators of the farruca,
with figures such as El Gato, Faíco, El Fati, Juan
el Pelao... To date, it has stopped with Toni el Pelao, a
veteran maestro who still stars at the Madrilenian tablao
Torres Bermejas. Later on, a baile dynasty began with Farruco
which has the greatest future outlook. Although it went on
with his daughters La Farruca and La Faraona, his grandson
Farruquito
nearly skipped a generation. He took over as a child as a
result of shows like ‘Bodas
de Gloria’ (‘Glory Weddings’), persevering
along a road of hits which, now in the maturity of his youth,
materializes in shows such as ‘Alma vieja’ (‘Ancient
Soul’). The dynasty goes on with the teenagers. His
brother Farruco now heads up bills, his cousin Barullo is
starting to ‘shake things up’ at family shows...
And they now say that El Carpeta, his little five-year-old
brother, is all the rage when he's brought out in the grand
finale.
