Flamenco-world.com, June 2003
Anyone who has been lucky enough to see
Chano
Lobato in concert will appreciate this biography of the singer, written by
the Cádiz journalists Juan José Téllez and Juan Manuel Marqués.
Téllez also wrote 'Paco de Lucía. Retrato de Familia con Guitarra,'
and explains that the biography is the result of conversations with Chano over
the last three years. Published by the regional government of Cádiz, the
book includes a recording in which the singer performs several of the 'ida y vuelta'
styles, and offers some of his side-splitting stories, for which he is well known.
It also includes a collection of Chano's verse, a list of his recordings, comments
on his life and work, and photos that Chano himself has contributed. Although
the release is not due until the end of June 2003, Flamenco-world.com is proud
to offer a preview of the first chapter of what is sure to become one of the most
important biographies in flamenco literature.
