Vicente Amigo… the poet
Flamenco-world.com, July 5th, 2011
Vicente Amigo opened the 2011 Córdoba Guitar Festival with his ‘Concierto flamenco para un marinero en tierra’. As he did almost a decade ago, his music again gave voice to Alberti's poetry, the inspiration for that 'Poet' which was released as an album in 1997. The concert, took place on July 5th at the Theatre de la Axerquía, with the participation of the Córdoba Orchestra conducted by Joan Albert Amargós. The reciter was, on this occasion, the choreographer Javier Latorre. But first, the guitarist from Córdoba played a selection of songs from his discography, accompanied by a flamenco band with José Manuel Hierro on second guitar, Patricio Cámara on percussion and backing vocals, Rafael de Utrera singing, Paquito González on percussion, Antonio Ramos on bass and Alexis Lefèvre on violin. After the opening concert, flamenco will be on the scene again on Thursday July 7th with the show 'Vaivenes' by the dancer Javier Barón at the Gran Teatro .
