The daily nineteenth-century
occurrence remained molded in the press of the period, from
which scholars of flamenco have extracted chronicles of
parties and shows, dancing academies' programs, advertisements.
One of these first cuttings is the one that José
Luis Ortiz Nuevo recovers from "El Porvenir" (14th
July 1850) that reads: "The academy of Don Miguel Barrera,
situated on Tarifa Street, is one of the most famous choreographic
establishments of the past five years".
