"HE SINGS BETTER EVERYDAY"
7th Chapter of:
CAMARON DE LA ISLA: COMPLETE RECORDINGS.
by JOSE MANUEL GAMBOA RODRIGUEZ

"Rosamaría", which was the title of the album, has on its jacket cover a photo by Lamarca centered on the head of the impious libertarian. The only thing missing was the "Wanted" heading, signed by the Professor. On guitar was the special collaboration of Paco de Lucía and Ramón de Aigeciras. All the cuts were composed by Antonio Sánchez, except the "bulería" "Con roca de pedernal", by Joaquín Carmona. "Rosamaría" was the commercial cut, a few catchy tangos that fullfilled their purpose. "La Canastera" is inferior to the previous one and in it Paco de Lucía plays "falsetas" (flourishes) of the "rondeña" "Cueva del Gato". Using "solea'" he does a "cante" that the sensationalist press has, unfortunately, excessivaly taken advantage of after his death, "Si no me sirven pa' na'". The "tientos" continue the outline of "El Mellizo". The "bamberas" are based on those of "La Niña de los Peines". Two "bulerías", a few "tarantos" (the first one is a "taranta minera" of Chacón), fandangos and the "sevillanas", which include bass and flute, make up the rest of the cuts.
