LIVE

'Live' is a show wherein music and cante take center stage. Joaquín Cortés has conceived the work as a journey through the forms of flamenco, presenting himself to the audience on his own, like a bullfighter facing the bull head-on. The dancer from Córdoba fearlessly takes on the challenge, interpreting the music with his dance, with elegance and feeling. As in Soul, the artist takes on mixtures and fusion, and once again the full gamut of references that this implies.

The music, created specifically for the occasion by Jesús Bola, Diego Carrasco, Juan Parrilla and Joaquín Cortés himself, is the focal point and key to the work. In all, eighteen musicians provide the backup on stage fusing classical music, Arabic, Sephardic, Jewish, Afrocuban, jazz, gospel and of course flamenco. 'Live' is noteworthy for its jam session format based on musical dialogue and improvisation.

The lighting designed by Juanjo Beloqui and the wardrobe created by Giorgio Armani with sober elegant lines emphasizing white, black and burgundy, the color of blood and of wine, harmonize with the staging employing a monochromatic idiom.
