Morón “de la Sonanta” (“of the Guitar”) has placed a foundation stone in the recovery of the place and prestige which it had gradually lost over the years and the exhaustion of the summer festival format, which we have to classify its traditional Gazpacho Andaluz in. And it has done so with the audacity, determination and desire that a group of local youths have given to the first edition of a festival which is born with the suggestive title Flamenco en la Frontera (‘Flamenco on the Border’). For four days, the whitewashed town has once again become a jondo hub with a complete activity program. From courses and lectures to documentary showings, recitals at peñas, shows at the Teatro Oriente and some fantastic late nights in the incomparable setting of the Altos de la Plaza de Abastos. A program which has caught the eye of local enthusiasts and outsiders alike and has even made this Seville-area town once again receive the visit of a large number of foreigners, as was usual in its golden age, when everything revolved around the figure of the brilliant guitarist, Diego del Gastor.
