‘Flamenco
Hoy by Carlos Saura’ is already premiered
in New York. The show directed by the prestigious Spanish
filmmaker has been seen on stage at the City Center
between February 16th to 20th, 2011, co-presented by
World Music Institute and Flamenco Futuro. In total,
there has been seven performances staged in the Big
Apple of this show with flamenco-jazz pianist Chano
Domínguez as music director as well as choreography
by Rafael Estévez and Nani
Paños. “It’s a powerful show
where you see that flamenco doesn’t just have
a past and a present, but also a future”, in Saura’s
words. Patricia Guerrero, Antonio Rey and Blas Córdoba,
among other young talents, take part in the show which
has already achieved widespread success with the public
and critics in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Salamanca,
Zaragoza and Katowice.
