The
shooting of the film ‘Ketama and Its Flamenco
Heritage’, in pictures. The film
by German director Michael Meert is a journey to
Ketama's
cultural roots, beginning with its last tour as
a group in Morocco. Upon crossing to the other shore,
Antonio Carmona, Josemi Carmona and El Camborio
land in Granada, in the neighborhoods of Sacromonte
and Albaicín, to which the Habichuelas
are native, with Juan Habichuela and Pepe Habichuela
as the family patriarchs. Five generations end up
gathering in an explosion of art, from Uncle Miguel
to the youngest members of the family who are now
beginning to forge their way, with Ketama, of course,
in between. The photo gallery - by permission of
DocFilm - presented by Flamenco-world.com provides
a clue of the juicy content of this flamenco audiovisual.
The film is to begin showing on May 14th, 2005 at
Granada's Cine Aliatar and starting on the 27th
at movie theaters all over Spain, although it has
already been shown at over one hundred cinemas in
Germany since April. The movie, which is scheduled
to be released on DVD within a few months, has already
made stops at Valladolid's International Film Week
and Prague's Musical Film Festival.
