It was the opening
night of the first show in which Baras is said to act - done with quickness and
a light wardrobe in "Juana la Loca (To live of love)." Where’s the script?
On a personal note: all the shows of Baras seem to blend into one, but among the
best are the lights and sound. And yesterday’s pataíta by Chelo
was not lit.

We see: period
piece veils and a veil for the musicians. A round of various pataítas
(rythmic steps) for a body of eight female and two male dancers, and the ballet/flamenco
dancer José Serrano playing Felipe el Hermoso, with whom Baras brings in
sevillanas up until the embraces of the (sensual) song "Vidalita"
by El Cigala.
He lifts her
up in his arms – they even simulate making love! – But she goes crazy with bulerías
when she sees Felipe with another woman - she works herself into a frenzy fights
with her dance. Hmmm… the reconciliation and farewell of the lovers was too long,
with so much cooing, so much cooing.

From the airy wardrobe
stood out the red carnation adorned suit, and of the songs, the lovely granaína-malagueña
of Charo Pantoja, who even participates in the scene. Clear sound, lots of incidental
music and violin.
Continuing: tremendous
dance of her after the death of him (actress Candela Peña
and director Luis Olmos helped in the dramatization) she dances with madness and
returns to her initial perch. Just when show is about to reach the hour of its
duration comes a special moment: a flourish from the guitar moves her to a deluded
sway while the curtain falls.
The second part
is titled ‘By right (Por derecho )’, with opening tangos (of Juañares
and Miguel from la Tolea), fandangos danced by the women (with inserted
sevillanas of Salmarina), they dance in perfect synchronization, until
Sara comes out in white to dance a soleá that she lengthens with
her bulerías (a good moment for Niño Josele) for at
least 40 minutes... and now you have the complete show. To ask more would be ‘Misión
imposible II’.
