The current flamenco tends to be measured against the great past geniuses of
flamenco. This is not the real purpose of the art.
Its value lays precisely in being new and current, which is the essence itself
of the act of creating.
It cannot turn its back on this or accommodate to the music that "society demands".
In flamenco, rheostasis: a re-adjustment of the organic functions to the changing
necessities of the individual or to the changes of the environment.
Even in flamenco there are fake weddings, arranged for convenience, signed
at the studios of the record companies.
"This thing of measuring the time and of using so many machines does
not belong to an art which comes so much from the heart" (Curro Malena).
