Antonio Rey’s flamenco guitar has found company. Estrella Morente, Arcángel, Vicente Amigo and Josemi Carmona are the Madrilenian musician’s guest artists on his second solo album, ‘Colores del fuego’. After winning the 2010 Córdoba National Contest and playing as a soloist in ‘Flamenco Hoy’ by Carlos Saura, he releases an album on which, as he explains, “I’ve captured my way of seeing flamenco”. Bulerías, soleá por bulerías, alegrías, rumbas, tangos and a lullaby make up the repertoire of this studio disc which also includes the collaboration of musicians such as violinist Bernardo Parrilla, percussionist Antonio Coronel and bass player Alain Pérez, among others. The album will be presented live on a tour with stops at several cities in Belgium, Spain and Mexico.

Three years have gone by since Antonio Rey made his solo début with ‘A través de ti’. And since then, numerous experiences have been added to this young guitarist’s career. They are highlighted by the Guitar Prize of the 2010 Córdoba National Flamenco Art Contest and also his role as a soloist in the show ‘Flamenco Hoy’ by Carlos Saura. All of it is captured on his second disc ‘Colores del fuego’, which also includes first-rate guests like Estrella Morente, who provides the vocals for ‘Nana de mi Mara’; Arcángel, singing in ‘Mi sangre’; and guitarist Vicente Amigo, who is one of his main references together with Paco de Lucía, side by side in the song ‘Amistad’.
Other musicians also take part on the disc such as
Josemi Carmona, violinist Bernardo Parrilla, flute player Juan Parrilla, pianist Alex Romero, bass player Alain Pérez, percussionists Piraña and Isidro Suárez, drummer Antonio Coronel and the voices of Mara Rey, Pedro Heredia, Antonio Zúñiga and Julia Manzano. Together with them he has made an album which, in his own words, “is more elaborate” than the previous one. The repertoire consists of bulerías, soleá por bulerías, alegrías, rumbas, tangos and a lullaby which he himself composed. The first live performances are already beginning: he plays in Brussels on May 4th and at the Plaza de la Corredera in Córdoba on May 6th. In June, the premieres will take place in Madrid (June 8th, Sala Clamores), Valencia (June 9th, Café Mercedes Jazz) and Barcelona (June 10th, Tarantos). From July 8th to 17th, he’ll go on tour in Mexico.
