Fahmi Alqhai, Arcángel and Accademia del Piacere combine baroque and flamenco music in the 60th Granada Music and Dance Festival. The entente premieres the new concert 'Las idas y las vueltas: músicas mestizas’ on July 6th at the Alhambra’s Carlos V Palace. Viola da gamba player Fahmi Alqhai and flamenco singer Arcángel, have joined forces on a unique project: the search for common points between baroque music and flamenco. With his highly acclaimed Accademia del Piacere, Alqhai delves into the rhythms that emerged from that transcendental union (the chacona, guaracha, jácaras) and he allows Arcángel to weave them into tanguillos, alegrías and fandangos. The soprano Mariví Blasco, guitarist Miguel Ángel Cortes, percussionist Agustín Diassera and Accademia del Piacere also participate in the concert. The presence of flamenco on the festival’s schedule is further represented by Eva Yerbabuena, which premieres 'Federico según Lorca' on July 12th; Rocío Molina with 'Oro viejo' on 5th July; and Estrella Morente, who sang at the palace on 26th June. In addition, the National Ballet of Spain premieres 'Negro-Goya' on 8th July.
