Arcángel
joins the list of cantaores of the Isidro Muñoz ‘factory’.
The Huelva-born cantaor releases his third solo album, with
the mark of the producer who has already handled cantaores
such as José Mercé, Duquende and La Macanita.
‘Ropavieja’ brings traditional cante to the
present, using one of today’s most prestigious flamenco
voices as a medium. With Miguel Ángel Cortés
and Daniel Méndez on guitar, the album has tangos,
fandangos, a bolero and a trilla created by contemporary
composer Mauricio Sotelo.

Two years after ‘La calle perdía’,
Arcángel returns to the recording studio. If he’d
put himself in the hands of composer and guitarist Juan
Carlos Romero for his first two records, on his third solo
album he’s worked side by side with Isidro Muñoz.
With the Cádiz-born producer, who has already composed
and produced for cantaores like José Mercé,
Duquende and La Macanita, he’s created ‘Ropavieja’,
an album of traditional cante but embellished with certain
crossovers.
Tangos and fandangos are complemented with
a bolero and with the trilla ‘Humean las chozas’,
a creation by contemporary composer Mauricio Sotelo, with
whom the cantaor had already collaborated on the show ‘Sonetos
del amor oscuro’. Heading up the group of musicians
are guitarists Miguel
Ángel Cortés and Daniel Méndez,
who he has worked with live for several seasons. Joining
them are other musicians like bass player Manolo Nieto and
percussionist Piraña.
