Seville’s Bienal de Flamenco 2014 is taking its first steps. Following the appointment last June of its new director, Cristóbal Ortega, the festival has now formed its advisory council. And in its first encounter, it has determined the dates of the event. The eighteenth edition will be held in Seville from September 12th to October 5th, 2014, covering four weekends. The director aims to communicate a sneak preview of the program before year’s end. Moreover, the naming has been made public of Spanish plastic artist Rafael Canogar (Toledo, 1935) as author of the original festival poster. The painter, sculptor and engraver, winner of the 1982 National Plastic Arts Award, will thus join a lineup of poster designers which already includes, among others, Luis Gordillo, Pérez Villalta, Carlos Saura, Rubén Afanador, Antoni Tápies, Antonio Saura, Rafael Alberti as well as the collective group of graffiti artists consisting of Suso33, San, el Niño de las Pinturas and Selek.
