Flamenco-world.com, June 2004

Seville's 2004 Bienal begins preparing the ambience with special prior programs commemorating its twenty-fifth anniversary. Throughout June and July, it organizes the festival ‘Flamenco F Estival’ (‘Summer Flamenco’) including two series. On the one hand, ‘Más Jóvenes, Más Flamenco’ (‘More Youths, More Flamenco’) which, with the collaboration of the Andalusian Youth Institute, “tries to establish the value of a new generation of flamenco artists who are currently blooming and are already situated in the professional panorama”. Standing out are guitarist José Quevedo, bailaora Rocío Molina and cantaora Carmen Grilo, among many others. On the other hand, ‘Más Flamenco, Más Músicas’ (‘More Flamenco, More Musics’) “gathers the encounter between flamenco and other world musics” through proposals by Arcángel, Manuel Molina and the Andalusian Chamber Orchestra. The grand finale of this double series will be provided by Sara Baras in a show together with Mexican singer Chavela Vargas on Friday, July 23rd at La Cartuja Auditorium.
