Flamenco-world.com

With titles like 'Purity and classicism', 'Wisdom' or 'Style and art', the eleventh Festival Flamenco CajaMadrid lays out a program heavy on singing. José Menese, La Macanita, Carmen Linares, Diego el Cigala, El Torta, Duquende and Montse Cortés are the artists who make up the bulk of the scheduled performances to be held from the 18th to the 22nd of February 2003 in Madrid's Teatro Albéniz. Although only Tomatito will take on a solo guitar recital, in their capacity as accompanist the standard will be loftily set with stars such as Gerardo Núñez, Niño Josele, Alfredo Lagos, Parrilla de Jerez and Antonio Carrión among others. In the area of dance, Seville dancers Javier Barón and Farruquito will each offer their interpretations. The Madrid series, which this year will present singer Carmen Linares the award 'Calle de Alcalá', will also carry out a program of parallel activities - between the 11th and the 14th in the Casa Encendida - with lecture-demos on subjects such as Paco de Lucía, the current state of flamenco dance and flamenco in Madrid, as well as a group recital of young flamenco artists from the capital.
