Three years after ‘Caballero’,
Daniel
Casares has returned to the recording studio.
And a new album has come out of it, ‘Ladrón
de agua’. The disc consists of seven new scores, among
them, the rumba ‘Plaza de las flores’, the rondeña
‘La Chacona’, the verdial ‘Potoma’
and the bossa-tango ‘Puertas abiertas’. As his
guest artist, the Málaga-born guitarist has cantaora
Chonchi Heredia, who adds vocals to the bulería ‘Callejón
de los tramposos’. She is joined by guitars, percussions,
basses, drums and saxes in a production which combines traditional
flamenco with current arrangements. This is the fifth solo
album by this young musician, who has collaborated over
the last few seasons with international artists like soprano
Cecilia Bartoli. ‘Ladrón de agua’ inaugurates
the flamenco record label started up by Spanish singer Alejandro
Sanz.
