Flamenco-world.com, December 1st, 2009
Flamenco’s strength in Catalonia
is being reflected more and more on stages. Beginning on
December 7th, 2009 and until March 6th, 2010, the first
edition is to be held of the Catalunya Arte Flamenco Series.
The bill offers a total of six concerts by outstanding cante
and guitar figures, half of whom are native to the region.
The opening stars Miguel Poveda, presenting his album ‘Coplas
del querer’ live at the Liceu in Barcelona (December
7th). He will be followed by Mayte Martín, taking
to the stage of the Teatre Joventut in L’Hospitalet
de Llobregat the songs making up her new album ‘Al
cantar a Manuel’ (January 29th). The next day, at
the Auditori in Gerona, Jerez-born cantaor José Mercé
will display an anthology of his discography. The circuit
will be provided with solo guitar played by Vicente Amigo,
who will be in concert at the Teatre Kursaal in Manresa
(February 13th). Cante returns with Duquende, side by side
with Yolanda Cortés, on March 5th at the Teatre Zorrilla
in Badalona. And Granada-born Enrique Morente will be the
one closing the series with ‘Flamenco Clásico’
at the Teatre Josep Maria de Sagarra in Santa Coloma de
Gramenet.
