The 2004 Festival Chivas Regal
de Danza offers five visions of flamenco and Spanish dance
Joaquín
Cortés, Sara Baras and Belén Maya, among others,
will participate at the event
Flamenco-world.com, June 2004
Whilst the first edition of the
Chivas Regal Dance Festival showcased leading figures from
the internacional scene, this year's festival sees flamenco
and Spanish dance in the limelight. From 6th July
to 5th September 2004, five companies who embody the current
state of Spanish dance will each be taking their place on
stage at Madrid's Teatro Lope de Vega. Mayte Martín
and Belén Maya will present ‘Flamenco de Cámara’,
Antonio Márquez will perform ‘Noche Flamenca’,
Ballet Español de Murcia take their production ‘Penélope’,
Joaquín
Cortés and his Gitana Cortés Company present
‘De amor y odio’ and Sara Baras will perform
‘Sueños’. This event, organized by CIE
Stage Holdings, brought together 40,000 spectators at the
last edition, drawn to Madrid by dance icons such as Maximiliano
Guerra, Julio Bocca and María Pagés - the
only artist to fly the flag for flamenco.
