2008 Ciutat Vella Flamenco Festival
emphasizes cante under the name ‘Carama’

Flamenco Ciutat Vella 2008 will
have vocals as its star. ‘Carama’, which is
the title of this fifteenth edition, refers to the Catalan
term ‘carameles’, candies to soften the chest.
Fernando
Terremoto, El Torta, El Pele and Montse Cortés
are the four voices chosen to sweeten up the bill. But
each of them will share the stage with a bailaora: La
Faraona, Hiniesta Cortés, Rafaela Carrasco and
Carmen Cortés. Moreover, there will be room for
such first-rate guitarists as Cañizares, José
Antonio Rodríguez and Agustín Carbonell
‘El Bola’, without forgetting rumba catalana
groups and conferences. The event is from May 20th to
25th, 2008 at Barcelona’s Centro de Cultura Contemporánea
(CCCB), where at the same time the first flamenco audiovisual
contest P’Alucine 2008 will take place.
