Flamenco-world.com, April 2006

Piano grabs the spotlight. The thirteenth edition of the Ciutat Vella Flamenco Festival 2006, which is to be held in Barcelona May 25th to 27th, offers three days of live music combining piano with cante and baile. Opening the festival on Thursday, May 25th is Cádiz-born pianist Chano Domínguez, who shares the bill with cantaor Guadiana and bailaora Fuensanta la Moneta. On the second day, Friday, May 26th, taking over before the crowd is Juan Cortés, on a night on which cantaor Tomás de Perrate and bailaora Rocío Molina will also perform. The festival, which in this edition has the slogan ‘Asentaos’ (‘Settled’), will be closed on Saturday, May 27th by Sevillian pianist Dorantes accompanied by cantaora Esperanza Fernández; while the touch of baile will be provided by Belén Maya. The festival also includes lectures and DJ sessions.
