S.C., January 2006
The Farruco clan is in full swing.
At Murcia's Cumbre Flamenca on March 25th, 2006, La
Farruca is to premiere her new show, ‘Gitanas’,
in which Pilar
la Faraona, Angelita Vargas and Carmelilla Montoya take
part as guests. The stage design is done by Richard Harrison,
who was a member of the crew of the musical ‘Moulin
Rouge’. Farruquito will record a DVD of the show ‘Farruquito
y familia’ in Nîmes on January 28th and 29th.
And his brother Farruco will perform solo for the first
time at Barcelona's Sala Luz de Gas on February 17th. At
the same time, Los Farruco will continue to display their
particular brand of flamenco at events such as Festival
de Jerez 2006.

La Farruca has a new show. The Sevillian
bailaora, the daughter of maestro Farruco, has put together
‘Gitanas’, with the help of Farruquito in the
script and direction. The show will premiere at the Cumbre
Flamenca de CAM on March 25th, 2006 at Murcia's Teatro Romea.
This tribute to flamenco which was done by women in the
era of the singing cafés is conceived as “a
flamenco performance in which time has stood still”.

And to do so, she has surrounded herself
with exceptional guests: Pilar la Faraona, Angelita Vargas
and Carmelilla Montoya. La Farruca will dance together with
them in the initial rondeña, as well as in the caña
and the closing bulería, and solo in the rest of
the numbers. On cante, she'll have a ‘chorus’
of women including Juana la del Revuelo, Mara Rey, Encarnita
Salazar and María Vizárraga. Completing the
group are guitarists Ramón Amador, Antonio Rey and
El Perla, plus bailaores Saray Reyes and Manuela Vargas.
Moreover, standing out on the technical crew is stage designer
Richard Harrison, a crew member of the musical ‘Moulin
Rouge’, as well as Farruca herself in the wardrobe
design.
Another member of the family who's premiering
is Farruco. La Farruca's son and the brother of Farruquito
is to make his solo début on February 17th at Barcelona's
Sala Luz de Gas. The performance takes place within the
Flamenco a tu Vera Series, where the bailaor will attend
accompanied by Barullo and Potito, among other artists.
Besides the performances, Farruco is now on the watch for
his role as an actor in the film ‘El Triunfo’,
which is to be presented at Málaga's Spanish Film
Festival.
Elsewhere, Farruquito is going to take
advantage of the two galas of the show ‘Farruquito
y familia’ at the Nîmes
Festival, on January 28th and 29th, to record an audiovisual
which will soon be released on DVD
