Flamenco Festival USA is up and running again.
The second edition of this event put on by the World Music Institute and Miguel
Marín Productions, will bring more that eighty Spanish artists to several
American capitals between January 25th and February 10th, 2002. The festival gets
under way with the Gala de Andalucía which is to feature El Güito,
María Pagés, Manuela Carrasco and Israel Galván at New York's
City Center. In addition to the 'Big Apple', dancer Antonio
Canales, guitarist Vicente Amigo and Eva la Yerbabuena's company
will also present their respective shows in cities such as Washington, Boston,
Austin, Albuquerque and Hartford.

With the guarantee of the first edition, which
attracted twelve thousand spectators, the Second Flamenco Festival USA has completed
the programation. Over eighty Spanish artists comprise this year's billing put
together by the World Music Institute and Miguel Marín Productions, the
festival's co-producers. Flamenco dance is the focal point of the festival which
is to be held between January 25th and February 10th, 2002.
New York's City Center where Salvador Távora
recently triumphed with Carmen
is to be the first venue for the festival with the Gala de Andalucía. The
show unites three generations of dancers in the persons of El Güito, María
Pagés and Israel Galván.
Afterwards the festival will tour the stages
of cities such as Washington, Boston, Austin, Albuquerque and Hartford. Dancer
Antonio Canales, guitarist Vicente Amigo and Eva la Yerbabuena's company which
was recently awarded Spain's National Dance Prize [Premio Nactional de Danza],
will be the stars of the tour.

With the goal of bringing flamenco culture
to the American audience, the festival is to include a program of parallel activities
with expositions, master classes, culinary activities revolving around tapas and
showings of Spanish films.
