World
Flamenco Fair 2004 expects to top
fifteen thousand visits in its fourth edition
The
showcase for jondo art opens from September 30th to October
3rd at Fibes,
coinciding with Seville's Bienal 2004 and MERCARTES 2004

With the expectation of exceeding
fifteen thousand visitors, the World Flamenco Fair -organized
by FIBES and Bienal de Flamenco- is preparing its fourth
edition. From September 30th to October 3rd, 2004, around
one hundred exhibitors between promoters, business people,
craftsmen, record companies and public organizations will
display their flamenco ‘products’ to professionals,
enthusiasts and the curious. This business forum, organized
by Fibes (managing body of Seville's Convention Center known
as the Palace of Exhibits and Congresses), runs parallel
this year to Seville's Bienal de Flamenco, which is celebrating
its twenty-fifth anniversary.

“Flamenco has been a valuable economic
catalyst throughout the history of Andalusia”. World
Flamenco Fair takes off from this idea to justify a business
event which is already considered “a recognized success,
an international reference and a must event for manufacturers,
record companies, instrument makers, managers, light and
sound companies, fashion and accessories firms, academies,
representation agencies … and all those sectors which
surround this endless source of wealth”.
The figures so attest. The number of exhibitors
went from 78 in the 2001 edition to 108 in that of 2003;
while the total occupied area increased from 1,500 square
meters in the first edition to last year's 3,500 square
meters. The goal is to continue growing in this edition
in which the World Flamenco Fair - whose program of showcases
and presentations is still being finalized - is accompanied
by two other great encounters.
On the one hand, it coincides with Seville's
13th Bienal de Flamenco, which will offer some of the concerts
from its extensive program in the setting of the fair. On
the other hand, it shares room at the Sevillian Palace of
Exhibits and Congresses (Convention Center) with the new
performing arts fair MERCARTES 2004, a professional meeting
for the agents of music bussines, such as producers, programmers
and distributors. MERCARTES is organized by FIBES and Red
de Teatros, Circuitos y Auditorios de Titularidad Pública,
with the cooperation of ARTE, FAETEDA, GECA and Ayuntamiento
de Sevilla. Just as in the previous edition with the world
music fair Womex, both business forums seek to join forces.
