Flamenco-world.com, November 2006

New York and London are now getting ready for their annual encounter with flamenco. Flamenco Festival USA kicks off at three of the top stages in New York. It is to be inaugurated on February 3rd, 2007 with a concert by Estrella Morente at Town Hall. The next performance will be by Paco de Lucía at Carnegie Hall on February 10th. And Sara Baras takes her show ‘Sabores’ to the City Center on February 17th and 18th. The rest of the program, which will take flamenco to several spots throughout the United States for the seventh time, is pending confirmation.

And the one in charge of inaugurating the festival at Sadler’s Wells is going to be bailaora Eva Yerbabuena on February 24th and 25th. The next day, the gala ‘Málaga en Flamenco’ is scheduled, with young artists from Málaga such as cantaora Rocío Bazán and bailaora Rocío Molina.

Sevillian bailaora Isabel Bayón stars in the show ‘La puerta abierta’ on February 28th, with Miguel Poveda as guest artist (see online video). On Thursday, March 1st, it will be guitar’s turn with Gerardo Núñez Quintet, and on Friday, Carmen Cortés’s dance company will perform.
