“Creative and interpretative diversity in the different categories of jondo art”. That’s the criteria of the Flamenco Viene del Sur 2010 series, which is to be held from February to May in the Andalusian provinces’ eight capitals. In total, the bill includes 41 performances of 24 baile, cante and toque shows, seven of which will be re-broadcast online at the university portal Flamencoenred. The dance shows head up the series by number, with proposals as varied as ‘Puente de Triana’ by Rafael Campallo, ‘Ti-me-ta-ble’ by Marco Vargas & Chloé Brûlé, ‘Sonata’ by Rafael Estévez and Nani Paños, ‘Por un sueño’ by El Junco and ‘Pastora’ by Pastora Galván. The guitar section includes maestros of the likes of Paco Cepero, Moraíto and Cañizares, among others. And twin bills are offered in cante, shared between voices such as those of Mariana Cornejo with Encarna Anillo, and Melchora Ortega with David Lagos, as well as single names such as that of Mayte Martín. With this thirteenth edition, this series promoted by the Culture Council of Andalusia will exceed four hundred total performances.
