Arcángel provides a lesson in cante in Madrid. The Huelva-born cantaor offered a noteworthy performance on Saturday, December 10th, 2005 at (student resident hall) Colegio Mayor San Juan Evangelista, one of the flamenco hubs in the Spanish capital. Without stopping to catch his breath, Arcángel carried out a perfect concert in which for over an hour and a half, he went over a very broad, varied repertoire with room for bulerías, caña, malagueña, taranta, fandangos, seguiriyas, tangos, alegrías... He intertwined the legacy of great historical maestros with trademarks of different territories such as Triana, Lebrija, Cádiz, and of course, Huelva. And he did so without losing an ounce of his personality, of that elegant outline his voice knows how to draw. Arcángel showed he is a full-fledged, well-rounded cantaor capable of successfully facing the crowd one-on-one simply accompanied by a guitar. By the way, Miguel Ángel Cortés was entirely up to Arcángel's level, both in his most classic and most creative registers. Together they journeyed down a path which satisfied the audience, and a great deal at that. You can't enjoy such an intense, high-quality cante performance like this every day..
