The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía renews its lineup of artists. The renewal of the public Andalusian company is starting to become a reality. Following the selection of Rubén Olmo’s choreography project in an open contest and the subsequent auditions, the dance corps of the public Andalusian company consists of eleven male and female dancers, who will be joined by Pastora Galván and Rocío Molina as guest artists. And they will immediately get down to work so that the first production of this new era, ‘Metáfora’, premieres on February 24th as the inaugural show of Festival de Jerez 2012. The musical section will be taken care of by guitarists Agustín Diassera, composer of the pieces ‘Tiempo y espacio’ and ‘Metáfora’; and David Carmona, who composes ‘Suite Flamenca’. The recording of the original score will be carried out by the Córdoba Orchestra, conducted by Jesús Cayuela. The lineup is completed by the lighting design of Juan Gómez Cornejo, the stage design created by Juan Ruesga and the wardrobe design by Eduardo Leal (with work by Carmen de Giles, Juan Robles ‘Salao’ and González). According to the Andalusian Government’s Culture Council, “for the upcoming season the ballet’s structural expenses, which include the staff of technicians, artists and infrastructure, has decreased 55 percent with the new management model resulting from the company’s incorporation in the Andalusian Flamenco Institute’s organization chart, and the production costs have been set at 350,000 euros”.
