Buenos Aires celebrates the 2011 Enrique Morente Flamenco Biennial. From October 12th to 17th, the capital of Argentina will host the second edition of this flamenco festival that offer a program of concerts and other activities around dance, guitar and cante. Argentine artists such as Habel Zacco, Maribel Herrera, Héctor Romero or Laura Manzella share the schedule with Spanish flamenco top figures. The guitarist Vicente Amigo performs on Saturday, October 15th at the Centennial Park’s Eva Perón Amphitheater the concert ‘Paseo de Gracia’. The Cádiz-born dancer David Morales shows his work ‘El Indiano, flamenco’ on Sunday, October 16th at the Centro Cultural Cine Teatro 25 de Mayo. Rafaela Carrasco presents ‘Vamos al tiroteo’ on Monday, October 17th at the Amphitheater Eva Perón, a flamenco dance show based on the Spanish folk songs that Lorca and La Argentinita recorded. The company has in its cast four dancers and musicians like Pablo Maldonado on piano, José Luis López on cello, Jesús Torres and Juan Antonio Suárez 'Canito' on guitars, plus the singers Ismael de la Rosa and Gema Caballero. A roundtable about flamenco and tango, an illustrated seminar by Faustino Núñez, an exhibit of flamenco books... are some of the complementary activities of the festival, which distributes its venues in different stages as tablao El Perro Andaluz, the Colmao de Arte La Clac, the Rincón Familiar Andaluz or the Mediterránea Café Teatro, among others. The history of this biennial began on February 2009 with a first edition in which were scheduled the shows 'Mujeres' by Mario Maya and 'Omega' by Enrique Morente.
