Calixto Sánchez and Andalusia Flamenco Ballet get to the bottom of Andalusian spirit at Málaga en Flamenco 2005. The second week of the Málaga Bienal's first edition has had two centers of attention. On the one hand, cantaor Calixto Sánchez premiered the show ‘A mi tierra’, a review of cante from the eight Andalusian provinces, at Málaga Province Cultural Center. The show, which includes the participation of artists such as tocaor Manolo Franco, is to be presented in the towns of Cortes de la Frontera, Alhaurín de la Torre, Ardales and Álora. On the other hand, Andalusia Flamenco Ballet staged ‘Viaje al Sur’ from Thursday, September 22nd to Saturday the 24th at Málaga's Cánovas Theater. The public Andalusian company, currently directed by Cristina Hoyos, has other scheduled dates in the festival: October 5th in Ronda and October 7th in Antequera. Still also being performed is the show ‘Málaga’, the festival's letter of introduction. Following its premiere in the capital and the show in Vera (Almería), it moved on to the Cervantes Theater in Álora. Sights are set this week on performances by Antonio el Pipa, Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda and Arcángel. The week culminates with the flamenco show on Friday, September 30th at La Malagueta Bullring with Fosforito, Tomatito, Manuela Carrasco and Niña Pastori.
