triumphs at Blue Note Tokyo with ‘Suite Iberia’.
On August 4th and 5th, 2007 at the prestigious Japanese venue,
the flamenco guitarist offered an excerpt of the repertoire
off his latest album, the result of the reinterpretation of
the piece by Isaac Albéniz, plus a selection of scores
from his discography. Accompanied by Juan Carlos Gómez
on second guitar, José de Lucía on bass, Roberto
Vozmediano on percussion and bailaor Fernando Romero as guest
artist, he managed to draw sell-out crowds with both shows.
Together they performed songs such as ‘Evocación’,
‘El Puerto’ and ‘El Albaicín’
off the new album, ‘Lejana’ and ‘Lluvia de
cometas’ from ‘Noches de imán y luna’
and ‘Metrópolis’ from the album ‘Punto
de encuentro’, among others. Besides going on his season
tour, Cañizares is working with Mauricio Sotelo on an
orchestra project with the Netherlands Philharmonic.
