Flamenco bailaora
Manuela
Carrasco returns to Madrid with the show ‘Romalí’.
Two years after its premiere, and having become the magnificent
winner of the 2007 National Dance Prize, the Sevillian bailaora
makes another stop in the Spanish capital with her latest production.
For two weeks starting June 3rd at the Teatro Príncipe
Gran Vía, the company will perform this encounter between
traditional flamenco and Hindu dance and music. “I’ve
been an artist now for nearly forty years and I think it’s
enough to suggest that the future of flamenco doesn’t
lie in fusion, but rather in seeking within ourselves”,
Manuela Carrasco affirms. The artist has had great success time
and time again in the city since she made her début in
the seventies at Tablao Los Canasteros. One of her most recent
performances in the city took place at the close
of the 2007 CajaMadrid Flamenco Festival with her show ‘Un
sorbito de lo sublime’.
