The Théâtre Chaillot of Paris holds the 2011 Temps Fort Flamenco Festival. Since the year 2000, the venue in Paris has included flamenco in its annual program. The novelty this year is that it has designed a thematic program focusing on today’s baile. Temps Fort Flamenco 2011, which is held from May 25th to 28th, brings together five flamenco dancing shows on the same bill. Bailaora Rocío Molina, winner of the 2010 National Dance Prize, opens the bill on May 25th at the Salle Jean Vilar with ‘Cuando las piedras vuelen’, a creation directed by Carlos Marquerie. Next, at the Salle Gémier, Granada-born Fuensanta la Moneta will present ‘Lo que trae el aire’. On May 26th and 27th, Belén Maya, one of the pioneers of contemporary flamenco dancing, offers two performances of ‘Tres’, a minimalist production which consists solely of her baile, Jesús Méndez’s cante and Rafael Rodríguez’s toque. From May 26th to 28th at the Salle Jean Vilar, closing the series, Rafaela Carrasco will travel in time to meet up with the Spanish folk songs of Lorca and La Argentinita with her show ‘Vamos al tiroteo’. But before the last of the three performances by the Sevillian bailaora, there will be a face-off between bailaores Manuel Liñán and Marcos Flores entitled ‘2 en compañía’. Artists such as Carmen Linares, Javier Barón, Eva Yerbabuena, Enrique Morente, María Pagés, Joaquín Grilo and José Mercé, among others, have left their flamenco mark on this stage in the French capital.
