between jazz and flamenco in ‘The Ultimate Adventure’
by Chick Corea & Touchstone wins two 2007 Grammy Awards.
At the forty-ninth edition of the music awards, the American
pianist wins the Grammy for ‘Best Instrumental Jazz Album’
for the record ‘The Ultimate Adventure’; and for
‘Best Instrumental Arrangement’ for the song ‘Three
Ghouls’, which musicians of the likes of Ornette Coleman,
Kenny Garrett and Sonny Rollins were also nominated for. ‘The
Ultimate Adventure’ is the result of the intense tour
American pianist Chick Corea has been on since 2004 at the head
of the new band Touchstone, consisting of flamenco jazz forerunners
Jorge
Pardo, Carles Benavent and Rubem Dantas (members of the
mythical Paco de Lucía Sextet), among other reputed musicians
somewhere between jazz and world music.
