Shower of awards for Diego el Cigala and Bebo Valdés.
The singer from Madrid and the Cuban pianist succeed in the Premios Amigo, awarded by the spanish music industry. Four awards went to 'Lágrimas Negras': Bebo Valdés as best latin soloist, Diego el Cigala as new artist and the couple was chosen as best band and best flamenco album. 'Lágrimas Negras' has been recognized this year with many other awards such as best album of the year 2003 by 'The New York Times' and Premio Ondas 2003 to the best flamenco album. 'Lágrimas Negras' has gone platinum with more than 100,000 copies sold in Spain. An US release is expected in the forthcoming months.
