Flamenco pays tribute to music in Spanish films. Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda, Antonio Carmona, Chano Domínguez and Martirio, among other artists, took part in the gala ‘Música en 35 mm. Las canciones del cine español’ at Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza on January 5th, 2007. Although there were songs in the repertoire from movies by several directors, Pedro Almodóvar’s prevailed. Mayte Martín sang songs such as ‘Somos’ from the film ‘Carne trémula’; Miguel Poveda opted for pieces like ‘Luz de luna’ from the movie ‘Kika’; and Martirio sang songs such as ‘Volver’ from the Spanish director’s latest film (on the original soundtrack, performed by Estrella Morente). In this edition, Festival Sevilla Entre Culturas has included other flamenco shows like ‘Sevilla’ by María Pagés.
