Festival de Jerez 2011’s flamenco
dancing courses are already 70% full. In just two weeks
since registration began on September 1st, 758 students coming
from 35 countries have signed up for one or more of the 44 training
courses. With this fast-paced inscription, higher than last year’s,
a total of 15 courses have filled up taught by maestros such as
Blanca
del Rey, Angelita Gómez, Joaquín Grilo, Olga
Pericet, Ángel Muñoz, Manuel Liñán,
Isabel Bayón and María José Franco, among
others. Just like in previous editions, the courses are expected
to fill up one hundred percent and cover the 1,070 places offered.
Of the countries represented, this first poll is highlighted by
the traditional domination of pupils coming from Japan and the
heavy introduction of this training in European countries such
as Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. The ‘global village’
dimension which the courses are acquiring every year is reflected
in the marked present of students from places as different as
Taiwan, the United States, Canada and Australia, which are joined
by China, Hungary, Argentina and Venezuela, among others.
