Estrella Morente sang in memory of her father in the prologue to Barcelona’s 2012 De Cajón! Flamenco Festival. The Granada-born cantaora returned to the Liceu in Barcelona one year after the death of her father, Enrique Morente. The only time she had performed before on this unique stage in Barcelona was with him in 2009. And it was here where the Granada-born cantaor offered one of his last concerts, as was recorded in the documentary 'Morente'. Just as the artist informed at the press conference presenting the festival, her father’s memory was very present. The repertoire she performed included a soleá-petenera composed by him for the album which the cantaora will release soon. The recital, just as she informed, was “bare”. And she tackled it surrounded by guitars, percussions, choruses and clapping by members of her family. The recital by the Granada-born artist on December 22nd kicked off the 2012 De Cajón! Flamenco Festival which, between February 3rd and March 23rd, has fourteen performances scheduled on different stages in Barcelona and its surroundings by flamenco artists including José Mercé, Miguel Poveda, Chico Ocaña, Raúl Micó, Antonio Carmona and Los Evangelistas.
