Encarna Anillo premieres ‘Barcas de plata’ in Barcelona with Miguel Poveda as special guest star. The Cádiz-born cantaora performed in Barcelona - in the setting of the 2008 De Cajón! Festival - for the first time solo. But not completely so, since she was hosted by Miguel Poveda, her colleague, her executive producer. They ended up singing together hand in hand, a give-and-take por malagueñas which projected all the feeling and cantaor quality that they have in common. But by then, the cantaora had reeled off the entire repertoire of ‘Barcas de plata’, with its traditional alegrías, ‘No hay tiempo’, the milonga and the soleá alone with Chicuelo’s guitar, the dialogue with José Anillo in the zambra, the tangos with a ‘montoya’ trademark and of course, the other alegrías; the ones entitling the album. The finish was the joy of the party por bulerías which is ‘Dulce veneno’, in which they all sang, including Víctor Carrasco, up until then on clapping and choruses next to José. And as the Sala Apolo called for an encore, Encarna stood up and unaccompanied, she offered her tribute to La Perla for the maestros not to be missing.
