Esperanza Fernández sings 'El amor brujo' in Washington D.C.The cantaora gives a flamenco voice to the work by Manuel de Falla which is to be premiered by the Post-Classical Ensemble on December 3rd and 4th, 2011 at Georgetown's Gonda Theatre in Washington D.C. Conducted by Ángel Gil-Ordóñez, "the Post-Classical Ensemble's new production will preserve the concise, expressive nature of the suite from 1916, but with the incorporation of Esperanza and a new choreography". The cantaora will perform the solos and a company of six dancers from the New York group Peridance will take care of visualizing the narrative part according to the choreography authored by Igal Perry. It isn't the first time that Fernández has sung with an orchestra or has performed a classical repertoire. Back in the '90s, she collaborated with the Andalusia Youth Orchestra, performing 'El amor brujo' and with the National City of Barcelona Orchestra which, conducted by Edmon Colomer, chose the artist for the recording which was made of this piece on the occasion of Falla Year. In order to recreate its first version, the one that Falla entitled 'Gitanerías', she once again put herself in the shoes of Candela at Seville's 2008 Bienal de Flamenco together with the Seville Symphony Orchestra conducted by Juan Luis Pérez.
