Estrella Morente triumphs at the opening of Flamenco Festival USA 2007. The Granada-born cantaora brought New York’s Town Hall to its feet on February 3rd with her performance kicking off the seventh edition of the U.S. festival. And she did so by combining traditional flamenco cante with versions of great classics of international song she includes on her latest album, ‘Mujeres’. All of it with the simple accompaniment offered to her by guitarist Montoyita and clappers Antonio Carbonell and Ángel Gabarre. Following the performance by Enrique Morente’s daughter, the festival continues with Paco de Lucía at Carnegie Hall on February 10th.
