A photo book pays tribute to Antonio Gades one year after his death. The Antonio Gades Foundation is beginning to see its goals materialize. As the first step, in collaboration with Fundación Autor (Author Foundation), it has published a photo book which glosses his figure as a dancer and bailaor. Over four hundred photos, signed by authors such as Pepe Lamarca, Colita, Antonio Cores and Gina Lollobrigida herself, as well as press clippings and posters from all over the world, make up the deluxe volume structured into three blocks: the man, the artist and his work. The pictures are accompanied by quotations from Antonio Gades himself, in Spanish and English, which summarize his personal and professional philosophy, as well as an autobiography as a sort of prologue. The foundation's following activity will be a tribute at Madrid's Zarzuela Theater on September 2nd, 2005. The act will moreover launch the Antonio Gades Company, which is scheduled to keep the artist's choreographies such as ‘Fuenteovejuna’ and ‘Bodas de Sangre’ (‘Blood Weddings’) alive on the international stage circuit.
