Linares and Arcángel
donate their cante to a development project in Africa at Festival
Flamencos por Gambo 2008. The cantaores star in the
second edition of the charity festival, which will take place
on Thursday, October 30th at CCOO Auditorium in Madrid. They
will be accompanied on stage by guitarists Miguel Ángel
Cortés, José Manuel León and Eduardo Pacheco,
percussionist Tino di Geraldo and clappers Javier and Ana Mari
González. The wish of Carmen Linares, the festival’s
sponsor, is that “this year many more people decide to
enjoy flamenco because besides being a great show, I think we
have to be aware that this project saves lives”. As in
the past edition, which Encarna Anillo took part in together
with the ‘lady of cante’, the proceeds will go to
the solidarity project developed by the NGO Fundación
El Alto in Africa, where it works to provide Gambo General Hospital
(Ethiopia) with pharmaceutical services.
