Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2010 anounces
its Giraldillo prizes. The members of the festival’s
advisory council have decided to proclaim Pansequito,
Isabel
Bayón and Juan
Carlos Romero winners of the awards for singing, dancing and
guitar, respectively. The best show is, according to the jury,
'Dunas' by María Pagés and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui,
and the most innovative, 'Pastora' by Pastora Galván. Moraíto
has won the prize for ‘mastery’, and ‘revelation’
one is for David Carmona. The Giraldillo for best choreography
goes to Rubén Olmo for ‘Tranquilo alboroto’;
the best stage direction, to Juan Ruesga for ‘Cuando yo
era’ by Eva Yerbabuena; and the best music goes to 'La pasión
según se mire’ by Andrés
Marín. This work also takes the Giraldillo "Magic
moment Biennial 2010", which underlines the ‘pas de
deux’ of Marín with Concha Vargas. In the musical
accompaniment, the festival highlights the bassist Renaud Garcia
Fons for his “musical performance” in ‘Sin muros!’
by Dorantes; the prize to the best singing for dance goes to José
Valencia; and the prize of guitar accompaniment, to Antonio Carrión
and Ramon Amador. Both the opening and closing galas take two
awards, respectively: the “special jury” prize is
for Miguel Poveda and the honorary Giraldillo, for Paco de Lucía.
The gala awards will be held on February 22nd, 2011, at the Teatro
Lope de Vega in Seville.
