Seville’s
2006 Bienal de Flamenco. U.S. photographer Gilles Larrain exhibits
his flamenco work at Fundación Tres Culturas.
Fifty prints on large-scale canvas will cover the interior of
Pabellón Hassan II at Isla de la Cartuja from September
20th to October 20th. The pictures which make up the exhibit
‘Flamenco: Paisaje del alma’ were taken by the artist
on a trip to Andalusia in 1983, during which – operating
out of the mythical venue La Carbonería – he managed
to take special snapshots of artists such as Mario Maya, Chocolate,
Potito and Farruco, among many others. An extract of the exhibit
has been available to visit
online at Flamenco-world.com since October 2001, coinciding
with the exhibit by Larrain – who has photographed artists
like Dalí and John Lennon – at the University of
New York’s ‘King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center’.
