El Lebrijano translates Gabriel García Márquez's texts into flamenco. The cantaor is scheduled to begin recording a new album of orchestrated flamenco in February 2006, on which he will sing lyrics taken from books such as ‘El coronel no tiene quien le escriba’, ‘Cien años de soledad’ and ‘La increíble y triste historia de la cándida Eréndida y su abuela desalmada’. The ten-song repertoire will be seasoned by the accompaniment of violinist Faiçal Kourrich, who he already conversed with on his previous album, ‘Puertas abiertas’. According to the cantaor, he already has the blessing of the Colombian writer, who said of him years ago: “When El Lebrijano sings, it's like magic”.
