Manolo Sanlúcar united flamenco guitar and orchestra to inaugurate the 2009 Córdoba Guitar Festival. The Cádiz-born guitarist performed together with the Córdoba Orchestra conducted by Carlo Palleschi and with David Carmona on second guitar, the concert ‘Música para ocho monumentos’ (‘Music for Eight Monuments’) at the Gran Teatro on the night of July 1st, 2009. That is how the twenty-ninth edition kicked off of the festival dedicated to guitar in all of its expressions, including flamenco. Varied shows of the jondo genre appear on the bill this year, ranging from the ‘Tribute to Mario Maya’ to Diego el Cigala side by side with Tomatito, with Ojos de Brujo in between.
